Well would you look at that!

Turns out that this feeling of loss, confusion, trepidation even- this one of being cut off from the blogging world that I have been ailing from for about two weeks now, was completely ungrounded.
I can use my dad's computer to upload pictures.
So! Here's what I've been doing:
1. Been thrown out of Canada

[Not, however, before managing to snap this along the way. It was a mysterious, monstrous whirlybird which captivated my senses to the point of nearly being unable to enjoy (what I suspect was) a delicious tapioca flavored smoothie and burrito flavored burrito]

2. (Oh look! I'm all underlined and I don't know why)
After nearly a week of sulking, I visited a few colleges with my mom!
First stop was Bard.

I kind of fell in love with it.

The place reminded me a lot of solebury, just a lot bigger! (and solebury is pretty much my hogwarts, so that's a good thing) It has big, fancy, shiny buildings, such as the monstrous performing arts center, (which reminded me a lot of the Sydney opera house) and then there are these lovely old ones as well. Flowers we everywhere and the schooling bit sounded pretty agreeable. At least the way our tour guide put it. You don't have to decide you major until the beginning of your jounior year, and you have to prove to them (through a multitude of horrific, painful trials) that you really have passion for the subject for which you're committing to.

On the way up to see middlebury college, we stopped so that I could take some photos of the lovely sunset and I ran into a barn full of baby cows! I wanted to take them all home with me and protect them from soulless carnivores... like you!

The cows had a pet kitten!

We spent the night in Middlebury in a nice little inn after getting there at about 11, I and fell into a fitful slumber... dreams of veal and unwanted blind dates and that my blankets were smothering me! After my morning oatmeal, orange juice and coffee I was awake, fit, bushy-tailed and ready to beat the hell out of a whole new day! (not to mention a few more colleges)
First things first though!
We had to make friends with a mouse, (which was running around in the road until we chased it into a garden)

We had to buy a ton and a half of maple sugar candy, felt and snow peas at the cutest farmer's market I have ever seen and go to a book sale at the library! (Where I found an autographed copy of fruits and vegetables by Erica Jong! Coincidence? I think not. )

I loved Middlebury! Such a beautiful town! what nice people! STRAWBERRY RHUBARB JAM?! I'm sold.

On to the actual school-

This was the inside of a large sculpture in front of a building that was apparently dedicated to Katherine Hepburn. I have no qualms.
It was very fancy. Very intimidating. All marble and perfectly cut grass and straight-backed. A... I forget what you call it.... submersive? language camp (Chinese!) was going on at the time, but a very nice student gladly broke the "language barrier" for a few minutes to show us around. We hadn't signed up for a tour and we must have looked pretty lost is my guess. Still, very nice of him.

Next stop:
UVM! (No way! YES way!)

It was beeeeeutiful there. (Just look how pretty) Especially the lake that it's parked alongside.

I tried to imagine our little Sebastian walking its grounds, being, at first, frightened by the UVM cougar (then becoming best friend with her) and undoubtedly, pulling a huge, glittering sword from the UVM boulder- proving, (for anyone foolish enough to still be holding any doubts about this after his second week), that he is truly a perfectly rounded student.
After being baked in the sun for a while we ate at this HUGE health food store where I enjoyed free wifi, (or at least I COULD HAVE) and had a big slice of vegan brambleberry pie and then we were back on the road, off to Woodstock for a photography lecture by Mary Ellen Mark, who is one of the most amazing women you'll ever meet. She projected hundreds of her photographs onto the wall in this fantastic little place and it was just indescribably terrific. It make me positively loopy with excitement and worry knowing that I'll be back there at the end of the month for a weekend long workshop with some of those people. We also watched a short film about prom.

This was a little produce stand that we stopped at on the way there. They must be planning to grow giant pumpkins or something.

At this point I was getting fairly tired of being in the car and I was ready to call it a very long day but ...my mom had other plans.
The next day we went to two more colleges before returning home: Green Mountain college and U-Mass. Believe you me when I say they are polar opposites. (size wise at least)

I didn't take any pictures at GM, I'm not entirely sure why. I was still probably being huffy toward mom or something. anyways, it was TINY! adorably so. the Town was... Frenchtown is bigger and livelier than this place. I'll just say that. The townsfolk seemed very nice, and I even met two students at the local cafe. They LOVE loved it there. They were also fans of rock climbing, water rafting and extreme mountain biking. The main building on campus appeared to be a large barn. the whole thing was highly intriguing.

I have a few pictures from U-Mass, but as it is now growing late and I have a music festival to be at tomorrow, I must bit you all goodnight.

Until monday or later, my friends!
